Music and Lyrics

Readers Note: ColoradoanMichigander slept two hours last night. That's it. I'm tired and when I get tired, I get very sentimental and gooshy. So, be warned.

I'm totally obsessed with two songs right now.

1. I'm Yours by Jason Mraz.

This was a first dance song of some our dear friends, The Kearney's. I loved it then, but it's been playing on the radio a lot lately and I just can't get enough of it.

Perhaps my hard candy shell is melting due to the pregnancy, but I'm feeling all sorts of emotional these days and it reminds so, so much of my life. And I feel damn lucky.

2. All That Matters by Mark Knopfler

My friend A. actually sang this at her wedding to her husband. It was unbelievable and beautiful. I leave the words below. I've been singing them to my belly a lot lately. Again, soooo much emotion right now!

my darling girl
you’re all that matters in this wicked world
all that matters
all that matters

my darling boy
my darling boy
all of my sunshine and all of my joy
you’re all that matters
all that matters

well, i can’t stop the pain when it calls
i’m a man and i can’t stop the rain when it falls,
my darling who can?

my darling girl
my darling girl
you’re all that matters
in this wicked world
all that mattersall that matters

my darling friend
my darling friend
all we’ve got going
is love in the end
it’s all that matters
all that matters

You're preggers! That's the best news I have heard all day. Your old friend from book group...

I as well still love my wedding song. Wait until you see Cameron's birth announcements, it has some very sentimental stuff on it! Apparently it doesn't go away the minute the baby pops out, I think it is getting worse!

That entire "Shangri La" album, which carries the Mark Knopfler song you speak of is a very, very good album.

It's probably my second-favorite solo Knopfler release, only behind "Sailing To Philadelphia," which ranks among my top 25 albums of all-time.

It is now 4:34am and I have been awake for a long time, so I just decided to get up for a while. Are you battling the pregnancy insomnia too? I hate it!
I woke up because someone decided they needed to do yard work outside with a loud piece of machinery. Blasted neighbors. Oh, and I also had to pee.
